The new Áspero stays true to those early, simpler days of true gravel, but with a few improvements: a threaded bottom bracket, cleaner cable routing and a UDH-compatible derailleur mount.
In addition to the drag reduction, Cervélo also dropped the seat stays to give a bit more compliance out back, and reduced front-end stiffness slightly to make the last hours of a long race less painful. Between those dropped seat stays, Cervélo added in a bit more clearance for mud, too, taking what learned from R5-CX. It’s a lot of seemingly small improvements, but they add up to a lot. The result is a bike that feels a lot like the original Áspero, but is faster, more comfortable, and more versatile.
T47 Bottom Bracket
Áspero uses the asymmetric T47a threaded bottom bracket that we pioneered on the R5-CX. This is a simple and easy-to-use interface that allows us to offer the benefits of BBRight in a more user-friendly form.
UNIVERSAL DERAILLEUR HANGAR
SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) has been used as standard on the new Áspero. It's ideal if you want to get the most out of your riding experience with the latest SRAM drivetrains while still being sure to be compatible with future drivetrain developments.
Easy and customizable front end
Áspero shares the same bearing dimensions as the R5, Soloist, R5-CX and Caledonia, which means any headset and stem combination can be used. Want a super-racing, fully integrated look? Check out the R5 ST31 and HB13 models.
